Telford & Wrekin Swimming Gala 2018

Nine of our Year 5 and 6 children competed in the Telford Large School’s Swimming Gala at Wellington Swimming Pool.

A fantastic team effort by all which led to an impressive 2nd place overall finish; our highest ever ranking in the competition!

A special mention to Samuel Tatton who has been selected to represent Telford Schools in an upcoming County Competition.

Additionally, a special mention to Evie France who stepped in to save the day at the last minute.

Mrs Sohier and Miss Bevington were blown away by the support which our children showed towards other competitors on the hot summer’s evening.

Cross Country Results 2018

The Telford and Wrekin School’s Sports Partnership have published this year’s final Cross Country results for 2018.

We would like to thank and congratulate all of the children who participated in this year’s races! The weather conditions made each race even more challenging and we were thrilled by the resilience shown by all of our boys and girls.

Very pleasingly, St Georges Year 3 girls finished in 1st place as a team and overall our school finished in 3rd place out of all of the large schools in Telford and Wrekin.

Congratulations to James Perks who was the overall 3rd placed runner in the Year 6 Boys’ event and Friddie Preece who was the overall 5th placed runner in the Year 5 boys’ event.

A big thank you to our members of staff who helped supervise our children at each of the races and, in particular, Mr Blair who put in a lot of effort to organise all of the necessary administration for our school to be able to complete in this year’s races.

CHAMPIONS!

On Thursday 10th May, our under-11 boys’ football team were crowned Telford & Wrekin Schools’ champions, following a 2-0 victory against Coalbrookdale Primary School at The Buck’s Head.

Following a tense forty-minute 0-0 draw, the game went into extra-time. Towards the end of the first five minutes, Finlay Hardeman scored to give St Georges a 1-0 lead. Soon after the change of ends, it was Finlay again who scored to give St Georges a 2-0 lead which proved to be the winning goal that meant our school would pick up the magnificent winners’ shield!

As a school we are so proud of the team and how well all of the boys have played their part into helping them to be so successful. The team has endured some frustrating evenings in the Shropshire competitions at the Shrewsbury Sports Village, however they fully deserve to be crowned champions this year following a commanding set of results.

Round One:

St Georges 3 v 0 Crudgington

St Georges 4 v 2 Ladygrove

St Georges 1 v 0 Newdale

Round Two:

St Georges 6 v 0 Old Park

Quarter-Final:

St Georges 3 v 1 Priorslee Academy

Semi-Final:

St Georges 4 v 0 Lawley

Final:

St Georges 2 v 0 Coalbrookdale

We would like to thank all of the families of our players who have supported the team so well and have transported them to their games –  this win was for you!
