We are Gold!

We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved the Gold School Games Award for the 2016.17 academic year!

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, fascilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded for the last academic year.

Well Done Jasmine!

Congratulations to Jasmine Cooper who has been nominated as AFC Telford United U10’s Girls’ Player of the Month!

Miss Tidman spotted the news via Twitter and was thrilled to see one of our girls performing so well for her team.

Well done Jasmine; we are all very proud of you here at St Georges Primary School!

Year 3.4 Girls Football v Redhill

Last week, our Year 3/4 Girls’ football team played their latest Cluster League game at home to Redhill Primary School.

The girls put in 100% but unfrotunately lost 8-0 to a talented Redhill side who will take some beating in the competition.

We are really looking forward to our next league game which is at home to Shortwood Primary School!

Year 3.4 Girls’ Football v Old Park

Our Year 3.4 girls played their first cluster league game away to Old Park last week. We won 5-1 and all of the girls put in 100%. It was a tough game against a good Old Park side, but with resilience and positivity we came away with a great win.

The girls’ next fixture is at home to Redhill Primary School.

A big thank you to Mr James at Grange Park Primary School for setting the league up.

Shropshire U11 Girls’ Football Competition

On Wednesday 24th January, our Year 5 and 6 girls’ football team competed in the U11’s county tournament at the Shrewsbury Sports Village.

The whole team played some excellent football and showed a great team spirit. The girls were placed into a group of traditionally strong girls’ football teams against Redhill, St Lawrence and Trinity Primary Schools. The team drew all three of their matches and Miss Hedges is awaiting to see if the girls have qualified for the next round of the competition.

Well done girls!

Telford and Wrekin Basketball Competition

Our Year 5 and 6 basketball team competed in a Telford and Wrekin inter-school tournament held at Charlton Secondary School in Wellington. The whole team played some fantastic basketball and really worked together as a team. Unfortunately they didn’t qualify for the finals, however they scored some excellent goals. Well done to all involved and thank you to Miss Hedges for leading the team at the event.
