Go Grace!

Recently, Grace Waterhouse from Year 3 participated in the Shropshire v Hereford & Worcester u9 tennis tournament where she made her county debut! Overall, H&W won but everyone played some excellent tennis and enjoyed their time on court. We’re really pleased that Grace wants to do more at county level if the opportunity arises.

Telford & Wrekin Representative Football Teams

We would like to congratulate the five of our children who were nominated to participate in the Telford and Wrekin u-11 football trials:

Amari Bateman

Briar Bateman

Charlie Mansell

Darcy Miller

Finlay Hardeman

All five our children performed excellently at the trials and despite very strong competition, Finlay Hardeman and Darcy Miller were selected to play in a regional football competition held at St Georges Park on Saturday 14th April.

The u-11 Telford and Wrekin Girls’ team finished in 3rd place out of their league of six teams and, impressively, the u-11 Telford and Wrekin Boys’ team won theirs without conceding a goal!

A huge well done to all of the children from primary schools across Telford who represented our district so well.

Congratulations Darcy #thisgirlcan

Congratulations to Darcy Miller from Year 5 who has recently won the Player of the Month award at AFC Telford United. Darcy has represented our school football team brilliantly this year, so it is no surprise that she has been presented with this award.

Excitingly, Darcy will be part of the Telford and Wrekin u11 Girls’ team that will be participating in a regional competition at St Georges Park next Saturday. Good luck Darcy, we can’t wait to hear about how you perform.

Key Stage Two Swimming

A friendly reminder that our children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will begin their swimming lessons at Oakengates Leisure Centre on the day we return to school after the Easter holidays (Monday 16th April)

Well Done Girls!

A massive well done to our Year 3.4 girls’ football team who finished in third place in their cluster league competition. The girls have really enjoyed their games and have played some excellent football.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr James at Grange Park Primary School for inviting us to be part of the competition and for all of the time and effort which he has put into organising fixtures and results!

Please follow the link below to see the girls’ results:

Thank You St Georges

A massive thank you to all of the children, parents and staff who have attended the two Telford and Wrekin Cross Country meets so far this year. The conditions have proved to be very tricky but, as a school, we have been delighted that our school’s community has again turned out in force to support and participate in the event.

We are really looking forward to the final races which will take place after half-term!

The results for each race which took place at the Telford Town Park meet can be found on Twitter by following the link below:

One of those Nights

Unfortunately our u11 boys’ football team didn’t progress to the next stage of the Shropshire Plate competition following a frustrating night at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. Placed into a group of four teams, with only the group winners progressing to the next stage of the tournament, the team played out three 0-0 draws which wasn’t enough to clinch top spot. Despite dominating each of the matches they played and creating numerous chances in each game, it just wasn’t meant to be for our talented group of lads. Again the boys played some really nice football, but ultimately were not ruthless enough in front of goal.

Excitingly though, the boys have found out that Coalbrookdale Primary School awaiting them to decide who will be crowned the u11 Telford and Wrekin football champions for 2017.18. A date for the final has yet to be announced.

On Friday 16th March our u11 Boys’ Football team reached the final of the Telford and Wrekin Cup (due to be played at The Buck’s Head home of AFC Telford United).

Because of the terrible condition of our pitch, due to so much rain recently, the match was a real effort for both sides because of the playing surface resembling a mud bath. As you can see from the picture of our match ball on the left above, the game was not easy for either side and both teams must be commended for their persistence and resilience shown throughout the game!

St Georges won the game 4-0 against Lawley Primary School. The boys have played some wonderful football during their route to the final and it has been a real team effort from all of the children involved.

We look forward to hearing from the Telford and Wrekin School Sports Partnership with details regarding the final soon.

Next up for the lads is the second round of the Shropshire Plate competition due to be played at the Shrewsbury Sports Village on Wednesday 21st March.

Year 5 Football v Grange Park

On Friday 9th March thirteen of our Year 5 boys played in a football friendly at home to Grange Park Primary School.

Despite the pitch being VERY muddy, both teams played some excellent football despite the tricky conditions and overall the game was played in tremendous spirit!

A massive thank you to Mr James at Grange Park Primary school for bringing your team over to play us. Our boys absolutely loved it!
